Invitation sent to schools to attend World AIDS Day 2013
You are invited to the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) World AIDS Day event coordinated by the AIDS Institute. This year's event will be held one day only, on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany, New York.
This prevention education and awareness event will focus on HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, Hepatitis C and additional youth-specific health and social issues. Local community health agencies and the NYSDOH will provide education and awareness through traditional tabling, presentations and hands on activities. Free health screenings will be offered for both young people and adults. Please visit us at www.health.ny.gov/WAD for ongoing updates.
Prevention Education Session
Sessions will provide moderated prevention education and a young adult speaker panel presentation followed by questions and answers. Speakers will be available immediately following each session to interact with participants. Students will have the opportunity to view and learn about the AIDS Memorial Quilt. The Quilt is a traveling commemoration of those who have been lost to HIV/AIDS.
Two 60 minute assembly style sessions are being offered in the Empire State Plaza Convention Center. Sessions will be interactive - please come prepared with questions for the speakers. If you prefer to remain anonymous, a drop box will be available in the Convention Center for you to leave your questions. Following each 60 minute session, you will have 30 minutes to view the AIDS Memorial Quilt.
Sessions will be offered at 9:00 am OR 11:00 am. To register your students for one of the sessions, please email email@example.com with the following information no later than November 13, 2013:
