| Minimum Qualifications | For permanent appointment: One year permanent or permanent-contingent service as a Public Health Nutritionist 2 grade 24, OR as a Public Health Nutritionist 1, grade 22 and eligible for transfer under section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. For provisional appointment: One year permanent or permanent-contingent service as a Nutrition Services Administrator 1 grade 20, Nutrition Services Administrator 2 grade 23; Senior Nutrition Services Consultant grade 22; OR as a Health System Specialist 2 (Nutrition)/Nutrition Services Consultant. All eligible candidates must possess a current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the American Dietetic Association. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Preference will be given for candidates with experience in child and adult nutrition in daycare setting. In addition experience is preferred in program development, outreach, program reviews and evaluation, and supervision. Candidate must possess strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel. |
| Responsibilities | The Public Health Nutritionist 2 (PHN 2) in MARO Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) will be responsible for half of the regional program development, oversee program reviews, evaluation and outreach and pre-approval activities. This position will also conduct program reviews. It will supervise staff, make decisions regarding the outcome of reviews in the unit, provide specific nutrition expertise as it relates to Children or Adults in determining program direction, policies and implementation of priorities. PHN 2 will function as a planner, evaluator and consultant. In addition, the incumbent will represent the CACFP in region-wide meetings, and will work closely with MARO and Central Office CACFP managers in program development. |
| Conditions of Employment | Permanent, full-time or Provisional, full time pending examination. This position requires travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation. |
