Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current DOH employee with permanent status as a Consultant Nurse HNSA OR eligible for transfer under Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law (NYS employee with one year of permanent service at G-22 or higher and meeting the open competitive minimum qualification listed below). Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications: licensed and currently registered as a nurse in New York State; AND four years of public health, community health, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting. Two years of this experience must have been providing direct patient care and two years of this experience must have been in nursing supervision, or working in the capacity of a nurse administrator.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in the Long Term Care Survey process; good computer skills; experience in training and staff/development; supervisory skills; and good communication skills.
Responsibilities The Consultant Nurse Hospital NSA will function as a team leader and supervise RNs and other clinical staff in the survey process; assist the survey manager in the management and oversight of the federal and state mandates; provide training/staff development for new staff in the MARO region; and coordinate continuous in-service education programs for all program staff as mandated by federal and state requirements.
