| Minimum Qualifications | Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current DOH employee with permanent status as a Consultant Nurse HNSA OR eligible for transfer under Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law (NYS employee with one year of permanent service at G-22 or higher and meeting the open competitive minimum qualification listed below). Open Competitive Qualifications: licensed and currently registered as a nurse in New York State; AND four years of public health, community health, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting. Two years of this experience must have been providing direct patient care and two years of this experience must have been in nursing supervision, or working in the capacity of a nurse administrator. |
| Preferred Qualifications | The incumbent should have experience in nursing home surveillance as well as experience supervising professional staff. Administrative experience is also preferred. In addition, SMQT Certification as a Long Term Care Surveyor. |
| Responsibilities | The Consulting Nurse, Hospital Nursing Services Administrator may serve as either an Assistant Survey Manager for the Long Term Care Program in the New York City Office or as the Survey Manager in other area offices within the MARO region. The incumbent will be responsible for nursing home surveillance and certification activities and report directly to either the Survey Manager or the MARO Program Director for the Office of Long Term Care. This position directly supervises the activities of up to six (6) survey teams. Additionally, the incumbent provides technical assistance for both providers and internal staff on regulations and clinical issues. The incumbent would also conduct the quality assurance function for the survey program and would be a member of the Statewide Quality Assurance Committee. |
