Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current DOH employee with permanent status as a Consultant Nurse CNHSS OR eligible for transfer under Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law (NYS employee with one year of permanent service at G-22 or higher and meeting the open competitive minimum qualification listed below). Open Competitive Qualifications: licensed and currently registered as a nurse in New York State; AND four years of public health, community health, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting. Two years of this experience must have been providing direct patient care and two years of this experience must have been in nursing supervision, or working in the capacity of a nurse administrator.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelors/Masters Degree in Nursing
Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Adult Home Program Manager, this position is responsible to: Assist in planning and implementation of the team's schedule of onsite survey activities in the 14-county region covered by the CNYRO to ensure adherence to established survey goals for the program; Assist in direction of the survey process for each facility, e.g . team preparation, assignment of individual survey duties, coordination of onsite survey activities as well as survey write-ups and reviews of Plans of Correction and completion of the survey packets for closure; Prior to surveys, reviews and evaluates background materials surrounding the facility to determine prior compliance history and utilizes this analysis to plan appropriate strategies for onsite activities; Oversees and performs quality assurance activities; reviews Statements of Deficiencies and plans of correction resulting from surveillance activities and serves as a clinical and regulatory expert providing guidance to health care providers to improve quality of care and regulatory compliance; Identifies staff training needs and develops and presents continuing education activities for program staff;Participates in other surveillance-related activities, including overseeing or personally preparing written reports and materials, recommendations for developing, redesigning and improving survey protocols and policies and procedures relating to health care practices and issues; Supervises designated program staff, provides direction in their daily activities, reviews their work and completes performance evaluations as required; Perform other duties as they arise.
Conditions of Employment Transfer Candidates: Permanent, full-time. Extensive travel is required, including travel to some areas not served by public transportation.
