Location	Office of Health Systems Management - Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, Riverview Center, Menands, New York
Minimum Qualifications	Current Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Program Research Specialist 2 OR current DOH or NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a G-16 or higher title deemed eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
Preferred Qualifications	Experience in previous research projects that included planning, data collection, analysis, and evaluation using statistical software, and reporting. Experience with SAS is preferred.
Responsibilities	The incumbent will perform the collection, analysis, evaluation and reporting (both oral and written) of controlled substance data using large relational databases related to controlled substance prescribing, dispensing, utilization trends and management of the NYS Official Prescription Program and the NYS Prescription Drug Monitoring Program; provide data analysis, spatial analysis and population based prevalence rates and measures as necessary in accordance with standard procedures and plans; secure and validate information, check conclusions and resolve common or particular problems; prepare responses to grant applications relating to data collection, analysis, performance measurement and assessment; prepare written technical reports containing the analysis and interpretation of study findings; provide factual and evaluative material (reports) and advice related to controlled substance utilization, trends, aberrancies and the Official Prescription Program in a manner useful to management; and prepare responses to Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) and subpoena requests as assigned.
