| Minimum Qualifications | NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Senior Attorney (G25); OR a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in a title at SG-23 or above and eligible for transfer under Sections 70.4 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. (Candidates requesting consideration for transfer under Section 70.4 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law must also be a graduate of an accredited law school with an LLB or JD degree, and may also need to meet additional conditions to qualify for consideration.) |
| Preferred Qualifications | The preferred candidate should be a highly motivated individual interested in working in an active legal team environment and having experience in courts or administrative hearings involving contested public health issues. The preferred candidate must have strong legal skills, be able to work as a member of a team, have demonstrated good decision making skills, possess excellent oral and written communication skills and should have the ability to handle high volume activities in a dead-line driven environment. |
| Responsibilities | These positions are assigned to the Bureau of Health Insurance Programs in the Department of Health's Division of Legal Affairs. Incumbents will provide counsel to the New York State Health Benefit Exchange Program (Exchange) with respect to the implementation and operation of a health insurance exchange created pursuant to the Affordable Care Act. The primary responsibility of the incumbents will be to work with the Exchange, and act as liaison with the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), in the defense and prosecution of lawsuits involving the Exchange. |
