|Minimum Qualifications||Nine years of professional level work experience, three of which must have included Managerial, decision-making and/or oversight of a major health-related program or in the direction of major administrative function of a large health-related organization. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years of the general professional experience; a master's degree in an appropriate field may be substituted for an additional year of that experience.|
|Preferred Qualifications||Ten years of experience as a NYS licensed, registered architect or engineer; five of which include oversight of large construction projects in the health care industry. Proficient understanding of NFPA Life Safety Code and the FGI Guidelines.|
|Responsibilities||The Health Program Director 1 will function as Director of the Bureau of Architecture and Engineering Facility Planning (BAEFP) in the Division of Health Facility Planning (DHFP). The Director will ensure that the annual volume of 700-900 projects are reviewed using acceptable methods of drawing review approval, within specific timeframes. The incumbent will be responsible for auditing the self-certification process. The Director will consult with the health care provider community regarding emergent and innovative approaches to health facility design and construction. The incumbent is responsible for a high volume of regulatory waiver requests, and will establish an audit process for architects self-certification documents and the electronic notice process. The Director will also ensure the periodic review of all regulation that affects physical plant design and construction. He/she will perform an internal assessment of how changing weather patterns (e.g. Hurricane Sandy) affect the ability of NYS to provide health care services.|
