Operator Certification Program
The purpose of this web document is to provide a list of approved water operator instructor-led courses that have open registration for those interested in becoming certified water operators in New York State and those fulfilling renewal requirements. The training courses listed below are classroom-based; those interested in correspondence or web-based courses should review that document. The cost of training is not set by the Department and must be discussed with the training sponsor. Applicants for Grade IA or IB certification must complete both the Grade I - Advanced Operations course and the Grade I - Supervisory Management course to be eligible for certification.
The information contained in this document changes daily and this document is refreshed every 2 to 3 weeks. Please refer back to this page often in order to find new and updated information.

- Initial Certification Courses
WOTERP--The Water Operator Training Expense Reimbursement Program is designed to provide free, initial classroom-based certification training to eligible operators that are employed at Community Water Systems and/or Nontransient Noncommunity Water Systems that serve a population of 3,300 or less. Training sponsors will not charge a fee to eligible students for training and course materials. WOTERP courses will be offered throughout 2012 in various locations. Funding for this program will expire at the end of 2012. Dates for WOTERP courses are listed in bold in the Initial Certification Sponsors and Courses table below. Contact the training sponsor for details. Check back often for updates.
