New York State Pesticide Poisoning Registry

Introduction

Suspected and confirmed pesticide poisonings are reported to the Pesticide Poisoning Registry from a variety of sources throughout New York State. Many of these illnesses, injuries, and poisonings are preventable. The Pesticide Poisoning Registry identifies where, to whom, and why these poisonings occur. The goals of the program are to:

  • investigate and intervene in any situation with a continued risk of pesticide poisoning
  • develop and implement interventions that will reduce the risk of pesticide poisoning
  • monitor the acute health effects of pesticide exposures
  • increase the medical community's awareness about the possible adverse health effects from pesticide exposure
