What is New York Health Options?
New York Health Options is a new Enrollment Center set up by the New York State Department of Health. New York Health Options runs a call center for New York's public health insurance programs, including Medicaid, Family Health Plus, and Child Health Plus. It also handles renewals for some Medicaid and Family Health Plus recipients. New York Health Options is located in Albany, NY.
Why is New York Health Options sending me letters/postcards?
Starting in June 2011, New York Health Options will renew health insurance benefits for certain Medicaid, Family Health Plus, and Family Planning Benefit Program recipients who live outside of New York City. If you get a letter or postcard from New York Health Options, please read it and follow the instructions. If you do not return your renewal form and any documents requested, you may lose your health insurance benefits.
Who can renew their health insurance benefits through New York Health Options?
Certain Medicaid, Family Health Plus, and Family Planning Benefit Program recipients who live outside of New York City will renew their benefits through New York Health Options. The cover letter with the renewal application will show where the recipient must return his/her renewal form.
Recipients who are blind, disabled, or age 65 and older will still renew with their local departments of social services. Recipients who live in the five boroughs of New York City will continue to renew with the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA).
It is important to check the cover letter carefully to make sure the renewal form is returned to the right place.
I received a phone call from New York Health Options. Why are they calling me?
New York Health Options sometimes contacts recipients by phone to give them important messages about their health insurance benefits. New York Health Options may call to let you know that your renewal application will be coming in the mail or that your benefits are due to be renewed soon. They may also call to let you know that they need more information to renew your health coverage
Who can I call for help with my renewal form?
If you received a renewal package from New York Health Options and you need help with the form, call 1-855-NY-ENROLL (1-855-693-6765). Renewal Assistants are available from 8:00 AM-8:00 PM Monday to Friday, and 9:00 AM-1:00 PM Saturday. You can also contact an enrollment facilitator in your county for help with your renewal. Enrollment facilitators are organizations or health plans in your community that can answer questions about applications and renewals for New York's public health insurance programs.
Where do I send my completed renewal application?
The instructions on the cover letter that comes with your renewal package will tell you where to send your completed renewal application. If you have questions about where to send it, call 1-855-NY-ENROLL (1-855-693-6765).

New York Health Options runs a call center for New York's Medicaid, Family Health Plus, and Child Health Plus programs. The call center can provide help with applications, answer questions about benefits, and help people find out if they might qualify for coverage. They can also make referrals to enrollment facilitators if people need help applying for health coverage. New York Health Options is open from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Monday to Friday and 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM Saturday.
