Health Officials Seek Participants for Pandemic Flu Planning Meeting
Individuals with Special Needs Urged to Apply by March 10 to Participate
ALBANY, N.Y. (March 3, 2008) — State and local health officials are recruiting participants for an important meeting on pandemic influenza to be held from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on April 12. The meeting will be held at the University at Albany School of Public Health Auditorium, One University Place, Rensselaer, NY 12144.
Participants will receive a $50 Visa gift card, first aid kit, continental breakfast and lunch in return for their attendance. The Department of Health recognizes people who participate likely would incur transportation and other costs.
Consumers and/or advocates representing the following groups will be invited to attend:
- People who are disabled or who are living with a chronic disease;
- Economically disadvantaged people;
- Minorities and those for whom English is not a first language;
- Members of Tribal Nations;
- Parents of special needs children;
- People age 65 and older.
Because space is limited and it is important to hear from people with different perspectives, it is possible that not everyone who wants to attend will be able to do so.
