Media Advisory: State Health Commissioner to Receive Flu Shot Tuesday Encourages New Yorkers to Remain Vigilant and Get Vaccinated

Flu Testing Lab to Open for Media Tour

State Health Commissioner, Nirav R. Shah, M.D., M.P.H., will get his flu shot Tuesday, September 25, at 10:30 a.m., at the New York State Department of Health (DOH) Wadsworth Center, David Axelrod Institute, 120 New Scotland Avenue, Albany. Dr. Shah will also discuss the importance of getting vaccinated in an effort to stay healthy this flu season.

Dr. Shah will be joined by Dr. Angela Maxted, New York State epidemiologist to talk about this year's flu strain and how it's monitored. Dr. Kirsten St. George, lab chief, Wadsworth Center, will also provide the media with a tour of the Viral Diseases Lab where scientists detect and characterize influenza viruses.

Photo identification is required for entry into the building.
