Kate Ott, Public Health Nurse, Ontario County Health Department

Kate Ott

  • 3 ½ years of service

Kate Ott began her career at Ontario County as the communicable disease coordinator, almost four years ago. At the time of her orientation, the department was involved in a massive cryptosporidiosis outbreak at a local water park. Ms. Ott managed the contacts and was instrumental in tracking all those exposed. She has become the resident expert in communicable diseases, and takes every opportunity to teach her colleagues, clients and community about the why, what, when and how of her work. Ms. Ott is pursuing a masters degree in Public Health Education and has a strong belief that education is a key piece to achieving positive outcomes in disease investigations.
