The Executive Leadership Team of the Primary Care Information Project (PCIP) is made up of three public health professionals employed by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene who oversee all the activities of PCIP. Together, this team has helped over 2500 NYC primary care providers adopt prevention-focused electronic health records (EHR), overseeing the nation's largest EHR project. They work tirelessly to ensure that over a quarter of NYC's primary care provider population has access to robust EHRs, assistance with workflow redesign and quality improvement, and access to pay-for-performance programs that reward prevention and public health. These efforts have yielded significant public health improvements, including increased rates of chronic disease screening, and better control of difficult to treat conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and smoking. This team ensures PCIP achieves its mission of improving public health through the use of health information technology.
