Judy Lester, RN, recently promoted to Director of Patient Services in September 2014, has worked as a public health nurse for 25 years and as the Preventive Service Program Director at the Oswego County Health Department since 1996. She leads a team of nurses, educators and support staff to execute critical disease control and conduct community health education. Through collaboration, Judy has led her staff to improve disease investigation; prevention; and reporting through difficult times and dwindling resources. Judy is a team player and encourages her staff to collaborate and support other nursing programs as needs arise. With her broad knowledge of the community and her extensive experience in public health, Judy has been successful in maintaining the maternal and child visiting nurse program and increasing the immunization rates for county residents. Judy continuously looks at health data to not only identify but to successfully address health disparities for our community. Her efforts to embrace Prevention Agenda initiatives and improve the public health are commendable.
