The Putnam County Health Education Unit (HEU) has demonstrated a continued and significant commitment to improving the public health of the Putnam community. They led Putnam County utilizing the MAPP process to develop the most comprehensive Community Health Assessment to date. The process included input from 99 organizations and over 500 residents. The HEU is also responsible for the creation of the comprehensive 2013-2017 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) using specific Prevention Agenda aligned strategies to address long standing health issues. Health Education staff continue to partner with agencies and residents to achieve the goal outlined in the CHIP. In addition, this unit provides accurate and timely health information to the public via press releases, social media posts and tweets, a monthly Commissioner's newspaper column, a physician's newsletter, and updates to the Health Department's website. Staff provides presentations to the public, promotes special events and assist their health department colleagues.
