Penny A. O’Brien, Principal Account Clerk, has served local public health in Jefferson County for 28 years in various accounting and technology capacities in support of the department’s many functions and services. Penny serves the department in accounting capacities through a number of responsibilities, including monitoring and tracking of receivables and revenue, preparing annual budgets, conducting statistical analysis, completing projects, and writing reports. She has been a leader in adoption of information technology over the decades and across the department. Penny was a key staff point person through two electronic health record purchases, transitions, and implementations. She provides vital technical support to all staff in their day-to-day software and equipment needs, and is the department’s liaison with the County’s Information Technology department to troubleshoot and resolve issues and problems. Penny’s diverse abilities, positive attitude, dedication and devotion to excellence in her work, make her an outstanding Public Health Works! Honoree.
