Karen Cabana, Computer Programmer, Clinton County Health Department

The CCHD recognizes Karen Cabana for her innovation, leadership and creativity in leading her team to develop the new Health Department website. Recognizing budget constraints, but needing to assure a mechanism to provide the public and providers with accurate and timely public health information, Karen selected a diverse team of staff from all Departmental Divisions. She was responsible for managing the process of development, and planning of future maintenance by team members. Through her guidance, the team integrated social media applications and strategized policy to keep communications fresh and pertinent. Karen's strong writing skills help ensure good communication with the public and her strong and organizational skills helped accomplish the task from start to finish. The new Department website offers excellent marketing of services and education for the community. As a result, the CCHD is better poised to deliver services and outreach to the community, and response in emergency situations because of the dedicated work of Karen and her team.
