Mr. Welge was selected for the Honor Roll because of the leadership he provides in bioterrorism and pandemic flu planning, his participation in numerous public health committees, and his community involvement. He serves on committees that focus on safety and policy changes in the Albany County Department of Health, as well as on statewide committees with the New York State Department of Health and the New York State Association of County Health Officials. He chairs the Healthcare Emergency Coordinating Council, bringing together hospitals, first responders, and other health professionals to plan for public health and other emergencies. Mr. Welge is deeply committed to the community, and is seen as a respected source of public health information in Albany County.
