Ms. Rodriguez Matos was selected for the Honor Roll because of her willingness to take on new and challenging roles and responsibilities, train and lead new staff and ensure that individuals with HIV receive the care they need. In her 13 years at the NYC DOHMH, Ms. Rodriguez-Matos helped to implement a new Immigrant and Refugee Unit within the Bureau of Tuberculosis Control, conducted HIV counseling and testing, and provided disease management/prevention education and training. In 2006, she was recruited to assist in implementation of a new Field Services Unit in the Bureau of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control, and has since helped numerous HIV-positive individuals and their partners. Ms. Rodriguez-Matos is highly regarded both by her fellow staff, who have learned a great deal from her, and by the community.
