Introduction to the PMP for Pharmacists

The New York State Department of Health's Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement maintains an online Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) registry. Currently, the PMP registry, formerly referred to as the Controlled Substance Information program (CSI), allows practitioners, who hold a valid DEA registration, to review their patients' recent controlled substance prescription history at any time. This information allows practitioners to better evaluate a patient's treatment as it pertains to controlled substance prescribing. Each prescriber must have an individual Health Commerce System (HCS) account to gain access to the PMP.

Effective August 27, 2013, this program will also be available to pharmacists. Each pharmacist must have an individual Health Commerce System (HCS) account to gain access. Pharmacists may apply now for their individual HCS account by accessing the link below. Check the BNE website for new information on this program.
