High School Students-Ever Had Sexual Intercourse (Youth Risk Behavior Survey-YRBS)
The YRBS is a survey of public high school students developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and administered in New York State by the NYS Department of Education. The survey is conducted every two years. Each time a new sample of schools and students is selected. The survey asks high school students (grade 9-12) questions concerning health-risk behaviors.

Pregnancy Rates (Bureau of Biometrics and Health Statistics)
Pregnancies are the sum of the number of live births, induced terminations of pregnancies, and fetal deaths. Pregnancy rates are the number of pregnancies in a particular age group per 1,000 females in that same age group.

For more information, contact the Bureau of Biometrics and Health Statistics at (518)474-3189.

Adolescent and Teenage Birth Percentage (Bureau of Biometrics and Health Statistics)
The Teenage Birth Percentage is the percent of all births that were to girls aged 10-17 or 15-17.

For more information, contact Bureau of Biometrics and Health Statistics at (518)474-3189.

Birth Rates (Bureau of Biometrics and Health Statistics)
Birth rates are the annual number of live births to women in a particular age group per 1000 females in that same age group.

For more information, contact the Bureau of Biometrics and Health Statistics at (518)474-3189.

Out-of-Wedlock Birth Rate (Bureau of Biometrics and Health Statistics)
The out-of-wedlock rate is the proportion of live births born to women that are not married. Since marital status is not indicated on the NYS birth certificate, it is imputed by examining statistical information on the birth certificate and whether a paternity affidavit was filed.

For more information, contact the Bureau of Biometrics and Health Statistics at (518)474-3189.

Induced Abortion to Birth Ratio (Bureau of Biometrics and Health Statistics)
The Induced Abortion to Birth Ratio is computed by dividing the number of induced terminations of pregnancy by the number of live births and then multiplying by 100.
