Pneumococcal Pneumonia and Influenza Immunization (NYS Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System-BRFSS)

The BRFSS is a telephone based survey that collects information on self-reported health related behaviors. The specific indicators in this section are:
  • Proportion of respondents age 65 or older that ever had a pneumococcal pneumonia vaccination
  • Proportion of respondents age 65 or older that had a flu shot in the past 12 months

Two-Year-Old Immunization Status (National Immunization Survey (NIS))
The NIS is a household telephone survey that collects information on the immunization coverage of children 19-35 months of age. Fully immunized includes 4 DPT, 3 polio, 1 MMR, 3 Hib and 3 HepB.

Reportable Disease Case Rates (Bureau of Communicable Disease Control)
The Bureau maintains surveillance of all reportable communicable diseases and conditions. Laboratories, hospitals and physicians are required to report cases of these diseases to their local health department. Rates are computed and presented per 100,000 population.
