Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) - Questionnaire
The PRAMS Questionnaire consists of core questions, which are included in the surveys of all states taking part in PRAMS, and the state-specific questions, which differ according to each state's selected areas of need.
The core questions cover such topics as:
- Insurance coverage;
- Contraception;
- Pregnancy intention;
- Perinatal substance use (alcohol and tobacco);
- Prenatal care;
- Psychosocial stressors;
- Complications of pregnancy and delivery;
- Sources and level of household income;
- Breastfeeding;
- HIV testing;
State-specific questions include such topics as:
- Prenatal care;
- Fertility and contraception;
- Maternal physical and mental health;
- Infant safety issues (use of a car safety seat, having a smoke alarm in the home);
- House and household characteristics;
- Psychosocial stressors;
- Infant health care;
- Breastfeeding;
- Injury prevention;
- HIV testing;
- Abuse, both physical and verbal during 12 month before delivery;
- Household income in the year before delivery.
Since data collection began the PRAMS Questionnaire has undergone several revisions. Revisions are conducted every four years. There are six phases of the NYS Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System - Questionnaires.
