Summary
- If the Type of Admission is 1 (Emergency), 2 (Urgent) or 5 (Trauma), then the Unscheduled/ Scheduled Admission should be coded as 1 (Unscheduled).
- If the Type of Admission is 3 (Elective), then the Unscheduled/ Scheduled Admission should be coded as 2 (Scheduled).
- If the Type of Admission is 4 (Newborn) or 9 (Information not Available), then the Source of Admission field is used to determine the appropriate coding value for the Unscheduled / Scheduled Admission as outlined in the above table.
