Definition:

The hour during which the patient was either admitted for inpatient care or was provided the outpatient service.

For emergency department visit, it is the hour during which the patient is registered or triaged, whichever occurs first.

Codes and Values:

  1. Admission Hour should be reported in the HHMM format, as defined by the X12-837 standards. SPARCS currently only edits and collects the first 2 characters (HH). Please refer to the Admission/Discharge Hour Code Table in Appendix B for details.
