Definition:
The birth weight of the neonate in grams.
Codes and Values:
- 54 = Newborn Birth Weight in Grams
- The amount must be entered as a positive whole number.
- Must be a valid number greater than "99" and less than "9001".
- Birth Weights of "99" grams or less should be reported as "100" grams.
Edit Applications:
- If Admission Date/Start of Care is within 28 days of the Patient Birth Date, the Neonate Birth Weight must be reported.
- Inpatient Only: If the Neonate Birth Weight is reported as less than 1500 grams, and the New York State Patient Status is reported as code "01" home, then the Length of Stay must be greater than 10.
