For Child Care Providers

The New York State Department of Health's Obesity Prevention Program encourages new mothers to breastfeed their infants. The Department's Child and Adult Care Food Program encourages child care centers and family day care homes to actively support breastfeeding families and help mothers to continue to breastfeed when they return to work or school. To be recognized as Breastfeeding Friendly, child care center/day care home staff need to complete an assessment that shows support of breastfeeding families. Designated child care centers and day care homes will receive a Breastfeeding Friendly certificate that acknowledges their support of breastfeeding families.
