Life Enrichment Program

The Life Enrichment Program was a comprehensive therapeutic activity program for long-term care residents with a history or diagnosis of dementia, depression, agitation or who may demonstrate behaviors that are difficult to manage. The program that was implemented at Finger Lakes Health's four consortium LTC facilities consisted of modules of therapeutic activities. The program modules, Lounge-Style, Therapeutic Small Groups and Roving Cart, were designed to be flexible, spontaneous, and the responsibility of all staff. Residents were classified into one of three levels based on their cognitive and social functioning to determine which program module would most benefit them. Over the duration of the grant period staff from various disciplines received comprehensive hands-on training and implementation support from consultant, Erin Bonitto of Gemini Consulting.

Goal: Reduce falls, resident to resident behaviors, and resident to staff behaviors.
