Adult Care Facility Resident Air Conditioning Initiative - 2006 Awards Summary
In State Fiscal Year 2006-2007, $2.0 million in funding was made available to Adult Homes and Enriched Housing Programs, awarded through a competitive process, to provide for the installation, operation and maintenance of air conditioning in residences. There was a $75,000 maximum award per proposal. For this procurement the Department used the entire $2.0 million appropriated in SFY 2006-07 budget and an addition $769,661.86 from SFY 2007-08 appropriated funds, making awards to 53 facilities.
Eligible Funding Activities included any reasonable and appropriate costs associated with the installation, operation and/or maintenance of air conditioning in ACF resident rooms. While proposals were accepted for replacement systems or repairs of existing functional equipment, preference was given to applications from ACFs that currently do not have sufficient air conditioning. A preference in funding was granted to applicants for use of funds to serve residents with the highest level of need, including but not limited to those with psychiatric disabilities and the elderly and with consideration to applicants in the greatest financial need of such assistance.
