Workers' Compensation Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO)

Dear Administrator:

Chapter 635 of the Laws of 1996 authorized a number of initiatives intended to reform the New York State Workers' Compensation system. Article 10-A of the Workers' Compensation Law authorizes the Department of Health, in cooperation with the Workers' Compensation Board, to develop and administer a program which enables preferred provider organizations (PPOs) to participate in the delivery of workers' compensation medical care. Under this initiative, the Department of Health is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of a process for the certification and monitoring of participating PPOs.

For your information, I have enclosed copies of the Department's Workers' Compensation Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Application, (PDF, 50KB, 4pg.) Workers' Compensation PPO Character and Competence Review Information, (PDF, 296KB, 10pg.) and the corresponding regulations, Part 732 of Title 10 New York Codes, Rules and Regulations.

If you should have any further questions, please contact me at (518) 474-5515. Thank you for expressing interest in this reform initiative and we look forward to your participation in this program.

Sincerely,

Guy Boretti
