Welcome to VBP U!

VBP U is designed to be an academic resource to raise awareness of VBP and to expand stakeholder knowledge and expertise on the State´s overall transition to a value based world. VBP U covers the key elements of VBP including an overview of risk levels, an explanation of population– and episode–based arrangement types, an overview of the role of social determinant of health (SDH) interventions and community–based organizations (CBO), guidance on how stakeholders can engage in VBP contracting, and other information that is crucial for understanding the shift to VBP. Curriculum:

Curriculum:

Semester 2 is designed to explain topic specific information around categories of importance in VBP including governance, stakeholder engagement, business strategy, finance, and data. The Semester 2 curriculum also includes provider specific information that details their role in VBP.

VBP Fact Sheets

VBP Fact Sheets are intended to provide additional guidance for NYS´ VBP arrangements. Each document provides an overview of each of the NYS Medicaid VBP Arrangements, including the types of care included in the arrangement, the method used to define the attributed population for the arrangement, calculation of associated costs under the arrangement, and the quality measures recommended for use in the arrangement. The Arrangement Fact Sheets are updated on an annual basis and can also be found on the VBP Fact Sheets are intended to provide additional guidance for NYS´ VBP arrangements. Curriculum:

Semester 3 is designed to educate users on specific, important topic areas in the move to VBP. Topic areas include Social Determinants of Health (SDH), Community Based Organizations (CBO), and contracting VBP. The curriculum for semester 3 includes videos on each of the topics as well as detailed guidance document targeted towards MCOs, Providers, and CBOs.

Curriculum:

Semester 2 is designed to provide additional guidance related to behavioral health and substance use disorder (SUD) in the context of VBP. Behavioral health services and services to address SUD play critical roles in the strengthening of provider networks to improve health outcomes and create efficiencies. In many cases, strong links between physical health and behavioral health services, including SUD services, will establish provider networks that are truly capable of spanning the complete spectrum of care for an individual. The content contained within this release is intended to focus on the five key principles of behavioral health.
