Media Advisory: State Health Commissioner, Advocates Hail Benefits of Governor Paterson's Health Reforms in Schenectady

Visit Community Health Center, Hospital Outpatient Clinic, and Lead Abatement Initiative

ALBANY, N.Y. (Feb. 5, 2009) - State Health Commissioner Richard F. Daines, M.D., will visit community and health care providers, nutrition, childhood lead and obesity prevention programs, and primary care programs in Schenectady County on Friday, Feb 6 to discuss the health care reforms contained in Governor David A. Paterson's proposed 2009-2010 state budget.

News media are invited to join Commissioner Daines' Schenectady trip Friday where he will discuss the Governor's health care reforms by highlighting various programs and initiatives that will expand New Yorkers' access to health insurance, invest in primary and preventive care, increase food bank funding and prevent childhood lead poisoning.

WHAT: Discusses Governor Paterson's health care reforms while visiting the following venues: Schenectady County Legislative Chamber; a federally qualified health center; a WIC Center; a food pantry and soup kitchen that both receive state funding; a primary care residency program, a home under remediation for lead paint and a hospital-based outpatient primary care site.
