Director of Community Health

Job Description

The Director of Community Health typically reports to the Local Public Health Director or Commissioner and is responsible for:

  • Developing plans for community-based health programs aimed at the prevention of disease and promotion of health.
  • Recommends community health initiatives, policy implications and best practices after reviewing health literature and statistics.
  • Identifies community health program related grant funding and develops grant proposals.
  • Manages specific community health programs from planning and design through implementation and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks.
  • Leads and directs the work of other professional, technical and support staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of an appropriate equivalency diploma recognized by the NYS Department of Education ANDGraduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a Master's degree in a related area AND at least 10 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
