Kathy Ann Cerny

Kathy Ann Cerny has spent 33 years serving her community as a public health nurse. She has an MBA in Health Care Financing, and is a team player working across all health department divisions; continually looking for program efficiencies and collaboration. During the 2006 flood, she worked at a Red Cross shelter that housed 1,500 people. As the Director of Maternal Child Health, she has procured a grant to establish a home visiting nurse service to improve pregnancy outcomes, and initiated the Healthy Children New York Program to provide advocacy, health and safety training in childcare centers. She oversees the county's Healthy Family program to screen over 700 high-risk families to enhance positive parent-child interactions, promote child health and development and to increase parent self-sufficiency. Her dedication to the wellbeing of children has led her to initiate a Child Fatality Review Committee, which she will lead in collaboration with partners from the community.
