When a hiring freeze prevented Sullivan County Public Health Services from hiring a new Public Health Educator, Nancy McGraw, Deputy Public Health Director, stepped in and took over many of the Public Health Educator's responsibilities with very little notice. With a lot on her plate already, she completed the community health assessment and took on the obesity prevention initiative in addition to her other responsibilities. In the latter effort, she has made great strides in pulling together a strong coalition and creating exciting health promotion activities such as movement toward a farm to school initiative and a school menu improvement campaign. Her enthusiasm has facilitated activity in an area that affects the health and wellness of all Sullivan County residents.
