Thomas Engle has served the Oneida County Health Department for over twenty-five years. As Fiscal Services Administrator, Tom oversees all of the department's financial activities. The department's ability to maintain existing public health services or implement new public health programs during these challenging budget times requires a savvy financial manager who can maximize third party reimbursements, reduce expenses and streamline operations to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Tom manages all of this with patience and humor with a minimal accounting staff while also serving as Early Intervention Officer and leading the Corporate Compliance team. Despite his long hours, Tom is always pleasant and caring, and makes time to assist others in the department.

For his outstanding work, and tireless dedication to ensuring the provision of high quality public health services in Oneida County, we are nominating Thomas Engle for the 2012 Public Health Works Award.
