For over 30 years the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), which provides services to both Livingston and Wyoming County participants, has been part of the Livingston County Department of Health. The WIC Team has one site in Mt. Morris, NY and travels to six temporary sites to bring WIC services to rural areas.

In 2011 this enthusiastic WIC Team volunteered to participate in a Quality Improvement Learning Project. A data dashboard was developed to take a comprehensive statistical analysis of program operations to see if program capacity would meet demand. The Team then used the data to restructure the clinic to increase participation rates and increase group utilization.

Other successes include converting two part-time staff positions into a .5 FTE Public Health Educator position to meet the needs of group facilitation and expanding clinics to include services on Friday once a month. The Livingston- Wyoming WIC Team is flexible and willing to try new ideas to improve services to the participants.
