Kimberly Abate, Senior Public Health Educator, Cayuga County Department of Health and Human Services

Kim is an outstanding employee who is always willing to go the extra mile. She has prepared, and distributed in a timely manner, well written media releases regarding sensitive information. Her service often requires work after hours and on weekends. Kim has coordinated the Cancer Services program since she began working here in 2008 during which time screening rates have frequently exceeded minimum goals set by the funder. Her relationship building and creative outreach efforts are part of the success of that program. Additionally, Kim administers the Healthy Neighborhoods Program. She provides management as well as "boots on the ground". Her work in this program has raised awareness with constituents and other community agencies; improved the housing conditions; and increased injury prevention efforts for numerous clients served. Kim's skill set, professionalism and patient demeanor make her an ideal recipient of Public Health Works! recognition.
