The Quality Improvement (QI) Team is a cross county collaborative committee, with members from both Genesee and Orleans Counties, that developed a comprehensive QI program currently being implemented in both counties. This committee was formed as part of the department's strategic plan. In the early stages, the committee participated in a QI plan development training called "Creating a Quality Improvement Plan for your Health Department" that was sponsored by the New York State Association of County Health Officials (NYSACHO). This ultimately led the committee to develop a QI plan which meets the requirements for Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) accreditation and was adopted by the Board of Health in the spring of 2017. The QI plan is setting the foundation for a cultural shift in the department by focusing staff on continuous quality improvement, moving both departments toward increased efficiencies, more robust programming and ultimately improving the public health services that are delivered to residents.
