Mylessia Candie, Supervising Public Health Nurse, Livingston County Department of Health

Mylessia started at the Livingston County Department of Health as a nursing assistant, moving to a BSN, then to a Supervising Public Health Nurse (SPHN) position. In her new role as a SPHN, she has led the department's communicable disease and community health teams through a series of communicable disease investigations, including a 25+ case mumps outbreak at SUNY Geneseo while training a staff of new nurses. Her partnership with the college was pivotal in the investigation. Mylessia also provided training, taught CPR, and offered mutual aid assistance to other counties during a Hepatitis A outbreak. Mylessia is a committed and adept leader and team builder.
