Christina Akey

Ms. Christina Akey demonstrates a total dedication to improving the health and safety of Fulton County Residents. Ms. Akey is a member of the Health Women's Partnership, Health Living Partnership, Youth Bureau, Project Action, Nutrition Health and Safety Coalition, Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Partners of Fulton County, Domestic Violence Taskforce, Red Ribbon Partnership, Wellness Coalition, Eat Smart New York and Long Term Healthcare Council. Because of her involvement in so many diverse health promotion activities, she has the ability to promote activities that meet the needs identified in the Community Health Assessment and helps to ensure that in an area with high needs and limited resources, the county's interventions are coordinated across community coalitions.

Ms. Akey is a Child Passenger Safety Seat Technician. In the unpredictable upstate New York weather, she can be found struggling to safely secure a child's safety seat in the backseat of an automobile. She will not stop until she is certain that the seat is safely installed, and the parent has been properly educated.

Ms. Akey gives freely of her time. Without hesitation she makes herself available to the community. A Brownie Troop of 5 who want to learn about hygiene receives the same enthusiastic response as a large community event. Local schools and agencies praise her educational presentations to high-needs children and adults. Days, nights and weekends, if there is a request for a presentation from Public Health, Ms. Akey will be there.
