Pamela Griffith - Supervising Public Health Nurse, Cortland County Health Department

Ms. Pamela Griffith combines duties as a Preventive Health Clinics/Programs Supervisor and Bioterrorism Coordinator. After discovering approximately 850 migrant workers who could have gone unnoticed as they worked on some of the larger dairy farms in her county, she forged a relationship with the Finger Lakes Migrant Health and began to advocate for the health needs of the migrant workers, including them in her clinic outreach and emergency preparedness planning. Ms. Griffith provides training for physician office staff and school nurses. She publishes a quarterly newsletter on preventive health issues and initiated a Healthy Beginnings Program to provide health information and encouragement to enroll in the Immunization Registry to mothers of newborns in the local hospital. Ms. Griffith has an extensive knowledge of vaccine preventable diseases. She has been essential in the development of the county's Pandemic Flu Plan, Mass Clinic Plan, and implemented the Point of Dispensing drill.
