Eat Well Play Hard in Child Care Settings Initiative

What does this initiative provide?

This initiative provides nutrition education, obesity prevention and physical activity interventions to pre-school children, their parents and their caregivers. A curriculum was developed by CACFP to support this initiative.

Who does this initiative reach?

This intervention will reach the children and their parents, and child care center staff at 227 low-income child care centers and 16 New York City Public Schools in Federal Fiscal Year 2012 (31 counties).

How is this initiative evaluated?

Success will be measured by evaluating eating and activity behavior changes among participating pre-school children as reported by their parents.

Reach in Federal Fiscal Year 2011:

In FFY 2011, 1,369 child, 1,341 parent and 458 staff classes were conducted, reaching an unduplicated count of 15,971 individuals.
