Sexual Health Promotion for Young People through Youth Leadership & Community Engagement (SHPYL)

The primary goal of Sexual Health Promotion through Youth Leadership (SHPYL) is to reduce HIV infection, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unintended pregnancies among youth in New York State (ages 13-24) by creating communities that support and promote optimal sexual health for young people. Programs funded through this initiative build on their target community's assets and strengths to create an environment that promotes and supports the sexual health and somprehensive well-being of its youth.

2011-2015: Getting to Zero

  • World AIDS Day 2011-2015 is a global initiative by UNAIDS about "Getting to Zero."
    This means:
    • Zero New HIV Infections
    • Zero Discrimination
    • Zero AIDS Related Deaths
  • The UNAIDS strategy aims to advance global progress in achieving country set targets for universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support; and to halt and reverse the spread of HIV and contribute to the achievment of the Millennium Development goals by 2015.
