June 22, 2015 Empire State Stem Cell Board - Full Board Meeting The Empire State Stem Cell Board is responsible for making recommendations regarding scientific, medical and ethical standards relevant to research and clinical trials considered for funding through the Empire State Stem Cell Trust Fund, soliciting applications for research projects to be considered for funding from the Empire State Stem Cell Trust Fund, developing eligibility requirements and standards, evaluating proposals, and making recommendations to the Commissioner of Health for the award of grants. June 11, 2015 Full Public Health and Health Planning Council Meeting The PHHPC has a broad array of advisory and decision-making responsibilities with respect to New York State's public health and health care delivery system. It is charged with adopting and amending the Sanitary Code and health care facility, home care agency, and hospice operating regulations. The PHHPC also makes decisions concerning the establishment and transfer of ownership of health care facilities, home care agencies and hospice programs. It makes recommendations to the Commissioner of Health concerning major construction projects, service changes, and equipment acquisitions in health care facilities and home care agencies. It also advises the Commissioner on issues related to the preservation and improvement of public health. The Council's powers and duties are set forth in section 225 of the Public Health Law. None
June 11, 2015 Early Intervention Coordinating Council The Early Intervention Coordinating Council is established in Public Health Law to advise and assist the New York State Department of Health as lead state agency for the Early Intervention Program which provides services to infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families. None
June 10, 2015 Health Planning Committee Meeting The Health Planning Committee advises the Council on need-methodologies, health facility plans, and emerging health care issues. Monitors major health care initiatives and advises the Council on progress and/or problems. The Committee will also include functions from the SHPRC's Committee on Major Medical Equipment and Appropriateness Review in the evaluation of high technology equipment, and specialized services such as organ transplants. The Committee will also take into consider rural health matters in collaboration with the Rural Health Council. The Committee will also handle matters formerly considered under the SHPRC's Information Systems Review Committee whose general purpose was to advance a framework for CON to ensure interoperable health information technology as an underpinning to health care delivery. June 8, 2015 COGME Plenary Session The New York State Council on Graduate Medical Education is an advisory body which provides advice to the Governor and Commissioner of Health on the formulation and implementation of State policies relating to graduate medical education and training. The membership is broadly representative of health professional, hospital and public interests. The Council was created by Executive Order in 1987 and was re-authorized by Executive Order on January 1, 2011. None

May 20, 2015 New York State Cancer Prevention Summit: Transforming the Cancer Agenda for the Next Generation Nearly half of all cancer deaths are preventable. With that in mind, the New York State Cancer Prevention Summit will explore ways to save lives and reduce the overall burden of cancer. The Summit's renewed focus on cancer prevention aims to demonstrate concrete ways different sectors in cancer research, treatment, prevention and control can help achieve these goals. None
May 20, 2015 State Trauma Advisory Committee (STAC) The State Trauma Advisory Committee (STAC) provides advice to the Commissioner and Department on trauma-related issues. The Committee is comprised of trauma professionals that meet to discuss, problem-solve and research current issues in the trauma system. None

May 14, 2015 Emergency Medical Services Council (SEMSCO) The State Emergency Medical Services Council has the power, subject to approval by the Commissioner, to enact, amend, and repeal rules and regulations establishing minimum standards for ambulance services, ambulance service certification, advanced life support first response services, the provision of prehospital emergency medical care, public education, the development of a statewide emergency medical services system, the provision of ambulance services outside the primary territory specified in the ambulance services' certificate, and the training, examination, and certification of certified first responders, emergency medical technicians, and advanced emergency medical technicians. May 13, 2015 Emergency Medical Services Advisory Committee (SEMAC) The State Emergency Medical Advisory Committee develops and recommends to the State Emergency Medical Services Council statewide minimum standards for medical control; treatment, transportation and triage protocols, including protocols for invasive procedures and infection control; and the use of regulated medical devices and drugs by emergency medical services personnel. The Committee also reviews protocols developed by regional emergency medical advisory committees for consistency with statewide standards. None
April 22, 2015 Drug Utilization Review Board The Drug Utilization Review Board consists of experienced physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and consumer representatives appointed by the Commissioner of Health to serve in an advisory capacity. The group provides clinical guidance to the Commissioner regarding pharmacy issues for the Medicaid Program. They bring specialized expertise in areas such as mental health, geriatrics, internal medicine, HIV/AIDS and children's health and help to ensure that prescriptions for outpatient drugs are appropriate, medically necessary and not likely to result in adverse medical consequences. January 13, 2015 Ending the Epidemic Task Force On June 29, 2014 Governor Andrew M. Cuomo made an important announcement, in which he detailed a three-point plan to 'Bend the Curve' and move us closer to the end of the AIDS epidemic in New York State. The goal is to reduce the number of new HIV infections to just 750 by 2020. The three-point plan includes: (1) Identify persons with HIV and link them to care. (2) Link and retain persons diagnosed in health care to maximize viral suppression and prevent further transmission. (3) Facilitate access to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for high risk persons to keep them HIV negative. The Task Force has been established in support of Governor Cuomo's three-point plan to decrease new HIV infections. The Task Force will provide expert advice on implementation and monitoring strategies, focusing on New York State's highly successful existing HIV prevention and care efforts. Member of the Task Force will address areas of prevention, policy, access to care, surveillance, messaging and biomedical advances via four committees: (1)Prevention, (2)Care, (3) Data, and (4)Housing and supportive services. This initiative will maximize the availability of life-saving, transmission-interrupting treatment for HIV, saving lives and improving the health of New Yorkers. None
