Media Advisory: EMS Memorial Dedication Ceremony Will Honor EMS Professionals

May 23rd Ceremony Will Offer Special Tribute to Those Fallen in the Line of Duty

ALBANY, N.Y. (May 22, 2012) – Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy will join State officials, legislators, members of the public, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals, their families and friends on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 11 a.m., on the Empire State Plaza in Albany to honor all EMS providers and pay tribute to those who have fallen in the line-of-duty.

Fallen EMS providers across New York State will be remembered at the ceremony. The names of 42 EMS members who suffered line-of-duty deaths are enshrined on the "Tree of Life" Memorial on the Plaza

The ceremony will feature a presentation of colors by the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Center for Emergency Medical Services Honor Guard, the New York City Fire Department Medical Services Pipes & Drum Band, and Ross Zastrow. Lieutenant Governor Duffy and other officials will give remarks, and Richard Brandt, Chair of the New York State EMS Council, and State Health Department Executive Deputy Commissioner Sue Kelly will lay the Memorial Wreath in honor of the EMS members who lost their lives over the years.
