Nancy Purdy, RN, BSN, ICF, the Director of Community Health Services at the Cayuga County Health Department (CCHD,) has been a pivotal health care leader, particularly apparent during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nancy’s knowledge and experience paired with outstanding leadership and communication skills have provided the community with education, guidance, and support in responding to the pandemic. She leads by example and as a result has a team of nursing staff and educators who perform with excellence, vigor, intensity, and persistence. Nancy excels in identifying needs and connecting with partners to create solutions. An example is her personal connection and care for our agricultural community and workforce. CCHD was at the forefront of serving the agricultural community in New York State, educating people about the rationale for, and implementation of, isolation and quarantine, facilitating testing, and performing onsite vaccination. In large part, these activities were supported by Nancy’s talents, and the collaborative efforts of the community partnerships and services she developed.
