Single Source Procurement: Community-Based Breast Cancer Support and Wellness Services – Contract Extensions

Pursuant to New York State Finance Law § 163.10(b), The New York State Department of Health is presenting the following summary of relevant circumstances, and material and substantial reasons why a competitive procurement was not feasible. The New York State Department of Health, Community-Based Breast Cancer Support and Wellness Services Program has made a determination to issue a Single Source Procurement to 14 eligible grantees to support ongoing currently funded projects.

The Community-Based Breast Cancer Support and Wellness Services Program supports implementation of programming to address the unique needs of breast cancer survivors struggling with the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, financial and other issues related to a breast cancer diagnosis, with the ultimate goal of improving quality of life for breast cancer survivors. Community-based organizations awarded contracts through this grant program provide a variety of wellness, education and supportive services, free of charge, to improve quality of life. They promote health and wellness and support breast cancer survivors to best manage the challenges associated with this chronic disease.

The organizations conduct promotion and recruitment activities to promote the services to individuals who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and enlist them into the services they offer using a variety of different promotion and recruitment strategies, including collaborations with clinical providers, organizations, systems to ensure that staff in clinical settings are familiar with and encourage us of their community-based services for breast cancer survivors. They also participate in program monitoring and evaluation activities.
